A great bond ties Shakespeare and Verona; the history of the city is linked to the story of the most famous lovers in the world, and has made Verona the city of lovers, for all ages.
On the 400th anniversary of his death, Verona is back with a theatrical language event dedicated to William Shakespeare. From March 1st to December 21st, 2016, his operas will live again, in the original language, in the locations the Bard chose as settings.
From March 1st to December 21st, 2016, the theater company chosen for this occasion will stage edition zero of Shakespeare in Veneto, with 6 performances by William Shakespeare in the original language: Romeo and Juliet in Verona, The Merchant of Venice and Othello in Venice, The Taming of the Shrew in Padua, and Two Gentlemen of Verona on Lake Garda.
These are unique shows that will allow spectators to enjoy the works of Shakespeare in private spaces and extraordinary locations characterized by historical, artistic and scenic contexts, interacting and sharing the emotions of these works with the actors.
The “Shakespeare in Veneto” project will be inaugurated with celebrations for the 400th anniversary of his death, and a 2017 edition has already been confirmed. This is an event that could, with time, become unique and special for the city of Verona.
Romeo and Juliet will make you dream twice a month, on Tuesdays with many dates available in two truly unique locations: during the winter season at the Cantina Shakespeare and during the summer at the cloister of Juliet’s Tomb, a unique experience for lovers of language theater, but also for foreign tourists who wish to recapture the greatness of Shakespeare in the magic of the places described in his works. For information and reservations please access the official website of the event.
